Karneval der Kulturen 2025 – Through the lens of volunteer Giulia
Every March and September, CABUWAZI welcomes a new group of enthusiastic volunteers from around the world as part of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). During their service at CABUWAZI they support our circus locations across Berlin. These volunteers bring their diverse talents and enthusiasm, helping us strengthen our mission to offer a safe, inclusive space where young people can express themselves and grow through the art of circus.
Among our volunteers was Giulia Urso, who joined from September 2024 – September 2025. She has contributed her skills in content creation to document her circus journey throughout her volunteer year—capturing not only her own experiences, but also the dedication and commitment of everyone involved. Through her lens, she showcases the vibrant spirit of our community and highlights the diversity and creativity that define CABUWAZI.
Take a look at our volunteers joining the Karneval der Kulturen 2025, as animal circus creatures that take over the streets of Berlin. Dressed in colorful costumes, they move, climb, slide, dance, and explore the city with curiosity. As they interact with public spaces and people, these creatures invite us to reflect on the relationship humans (and the circus) have built with our fellow animals over the centuries we have shared on this planet.
Karneval der Kulturen 2025
Dear June!
Summer has finally arrived in Berlin and along with a few rains and storms, the carnival season has arrived too!
The CABUWAZI volunteers were part of the parade on Sunday for the Karneval der Kulturen.
It took a lot of preparation from Monday meetings in the Tempelhof tents to rehearsals in CABUWAZI Treptow. With two huge bikes and all our circus experience, this is how we showed our colors in the city that, little by little, we are starting to call home. — Giulia Urso (June 12, 2025)
